Opportunity exists in our Greene/George County (MS) markets.
MLO will work from our George County location.

A Mortgage Loan Originator is vital as the "door" through which mortgage loans can be made. This is a sales role with established goals (pay is base + commission). The MLO often has first contact with a customer or potential customer, thereby establishing the customer's impression of the Bank as a whole. The primary responsibility is to generate new customer relationships through active solicitation, to maintain the quality of existing loans and to oversee the mortgage lending process from application to close. The successful MLO will have a large customer base obtained through customer relationships and active participation within their community, and continually searches for new opportunities. The successful MLO understands the legalities of their role in order to advise fairly and properly.
 

 

Qualifications - MUST MEET MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION FOR EMPLOYMENT
* Two years' minimum experience with a proven sales record is ideal. Less experience (in mortgage lending) could be considered depending on the nature of the experience.
* Must have knowledge of the legalities of mortgage lending and Bank guidelines in order to properly advise customers. 
* Required skills include initiative, organizational skills, the ability to multi-task and work under deadlines; to prioritize workload and to work independently according to Bank policies and procedures.
*
Must communicate and present oneself professionally with customers, investors, realtors, attorneys, insurance agents and co-workers.
* Moderate knowledge of Word and Excel would be helpful; familiarity with Calyx and Mortgagebot would be a plus.
* Creativity to market the Bank would be a plus.

* A working knowledge of debits and credits and general accounting skills is desired.
* A valid driver’s license is required. Must be available to attend after hours functions and travel within the state.


Primary Objective - To solicit and recognize opportunities in which to assist the borrower with their mortgage lending needs in strict adherence to applicable federal and state rules and regulations and Bank policy and procedures.

 

Responsibilities – To generate new customer relationships through active solicitation, to maintain the quality of existing loans and to oversee the mortgage lending process as the main point of contact from application to close.

Expectations - To strive to meet sales goals, to perform all job duties and other responsibilities as assigned and to follow all safety rules and regulations.


Regular attendance according to the work schedule is necessary and essential as is receiving detailed information verbally, in person and by telephone. Extensive reading and computer use is expected the majority of the time.
